NATIONAL POLICIES FOR RAISING QUALITY IN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY IN LATVIA AND EUROPE

One of the greatest challenges of the new Construction Law enforced on October 1, 2014 is to assure quality of buildings and construction works in line with requirements of existing standards.

From January 1, 2015 the Latvian Construction State Control Bureau (hereinafter – the Bureau) assures maintenance supervision of public buildings and from July 1, 2015 the Bureau assures state control of construction works and commissioning of public buildings with a purpose to assure quality and safety in construction in accordance with the competence prescribed by regulatory enactments.

On May 31, 2016 during the Construction Week the government of Latvia has signed the memorandum with twelve construction industry stakeholders for combating grey economy in construction industry.

This year on November 25 the Ministry of Economics and Construction State Bureau in cooperation with the Riga Technical University and Latvian Sustainable Building Council is organizing an international conference on the role of national policies for quality assurance in construction industry, streamed on conference webpage in two languages (Latvian and English), thus available free-of-charge for all interested persons.

This is the third such a large-scale international construction quality conference held in Latvia reminding the society and construction how important is the role of construction quality.

OBJECTIVE OF CONFERENCE

The objective of the conference is to be a meeting point of local and foreign construction industry experts in order to exchange experience on how the national guidelines can help raising the quality requirements in construction industry in national and international level and enabling high quality performance of construction stakeholders in accordance with the existing international standards.
